How Much Should a 3 Year Old Chihuahua Weigh?

Can someone please tell me how much my 2 chihuahuas that are nearly 3 years old should weigh?
I need to know cause i think i am over feeding my dogs.

My Chihuahua, his Chihuahuas & your Chihuahuas will all weigh something different. A healthy 5 lb Chi will obviously carry weight differently than one who should only weigh 4 lbs. Look at the top of your dogs. They should narrow slightly at the waist. Also feel them, if you can’t feel their ribs with slight pressure then they’re likely carrying some extra weight. If you’re feeding them based on weight at the dog food manufacturers recommendation, then you’re probably feeding them an unhealthy food. Go to http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/ and buy the best food you can afford for them. If you’re overfeeding, then just slowly cut back on the amount you feed. Chis are prone to heart conditions & therefore it’s unwise for them to carry extra weight.

It really depends. if the chihuahua’s were bought from a REPUTABLE breeder. than they should have been bred to the standard.but if they were from a BYB (poorly bred) than your dogs can way anything!

    I have 3 Chihuahua’s

i have 2 that are 3 years old and i adopted them from a shelter and they were bred by a BYB and they way 8 pounds but the standard chihuahua should weigh from 2-6 pounds (not including teacups, teacups are just runts.)

So you can get them checked out by a vet and ask them what they think.

EDIT: where did you get your chihuahua’s from?

Ask your vet…this may be a cop-out answer, but the vet should be the first person to answer this question as he/she knows your animals best

It does depend however, where you got the dog and what you feed them

Why do you need to know?

My two weigh 3 1/2 lbs and the other one 4 lb’s
2 to 8 pounds is a normal but it depends on the dog though.
