My parents have left their 2 Chihuahuas for me to take care of while they are working (they are truck drivers). I do not think they had time to train them. They are both now about 3 yrs old and they continue to mess in the house. I have puddle pads down in their favorite areas and I take them out every few hours but they just stand there by me, they wont go outside. I dont know how to train these dogs so can someone help me?
Theres a spray you can put down to deter them from using the same spot twice. Then use the pee pads in an area leading to the door, little by little take them away til there is nothing by the door.

You’re going to have to sit outside with them until the DO go. Then praise them for going where they’re supposed to.
Google "crate training" for more detailed information.

Using pee pads is not a good idea, it is telling the dogs they can do their business inside. Just start as you would a puppy and take them out every 15-20 minutes. Also tell your parents that in a truck is the best place to potty train a dog. My husband and I trained 2 of them while he drove truck

Well, my advice is to try to muddle your way through as best as you can for now (which may mean a LOT of crate time for the two of them), and when your parents return, let them know that you will NOT be babysitting their dogs ever again (unless they take the time to get them properly trained).
As far as I’m concerned, mom and dad can shell out the money for boarding in a kennel (where the dogs CAN do their business inside, if need be) if they aren’t willing to ensure that they have well-trained dogs.
Seriously: this issue is not up to you to solve, since even if you do manage to get them trained, how long do you think it will "stick" with them after mom and dad get them home again and revert to their old ways?
