Why Are Our Fixed Chihuahuas Humping Our Ferret?

I have a male ferret I let run around the downstairs of the house and we have two chihuahuas and one mix of Chihuahua, Yorkie, & Dachshund, ages 11, 9 and 1 years respectively. And the 9 and 1 year old have recently started humping him. Why are they doing this? They all have been fixed, so, why?

It is an assertion of dominance.
